Snap It-Map It is a way of sharing photos from your iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad) on a map that shows where the photo was taken.
You can easily take a new picture or use one from your camera roll and then share it with your friends, right from your device.
Your friends will be able to quickly and easily see exactly where and when you took the photo on an easy to use map.
Note that Snap It-Map It is not a photo hosting service, there are many other excellent products around that provide this service. We offer to share your photos on a map, but only for a limited time (see below).
Any time you not only what show people what you took a photo of, but where such as when you're on holiday or on a day out. You could keep a 'photo-diary' of your travels and then share it with your friends. You could also use it for more serious purposes such as reporting vandalism or graffiti to local law enforcement, or burst pipes to the water company.
When you upload a picture to Snap It-Map It you can then easily share it right from the App on Twitter, Facebook, via SMS (text message) or E-Mail. Snap It-Map It generates a small URL which links to a website showing a map with your photo on it. You can share this URL any way you like!
Additionally you can share a custom RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed of your images which will enable your friends to subscribe to a live feed of your photos without you having to tell them.
If you post a photo as a registered user then, yes, you can delete any of your photos at anytime right from the app.
Images uploaded from the free edition (when registered) will be removed from our server any time after 60 days of the upload date. When using the Pro version images may be removed only after 1 year has passed.
In addition you can only upload high-quality images using the Pro version; the free version is limited to low and medium quality images.
Also, until at least the end of 2011, we'll be donating £1 to the CF Trust, the Cystic Fibrosis charity.
Right now we're also working on adding printing support to the Pro version along with the ability to choose your own 'short code' for the URLs that are generated. e.g instead of simi.so/x6sh11 you could choose simi.so/MyGreatPic.
Firstly check out our iPhone support notes page as this covers the basics of how to use the App. Also our Facebook page and Google+ page also have screenshots and videos illustrating various aspects of using the App.
